A close friend is in serious debt. She got to the point of borrowing some money from some suspect characters and the debt with them spiralled to several thousand pounds. She was promised help by her parents, but they needed a few days to get the money.
In the mean time my friend decided to cash all the personal cheques she had in order to immediately pay off the people she owed money. She had in her possession multiple cheque books for one bank account and cashed all the cheques at local cash for cheques shops. Cashing in total about £9000 worth of cheques.
Since that time her parents were unable to get the money to put into her bank before the cheques are cashed. The cheques will be banked any day now but there is less than £1000 in the account.
I suspect the bank may treat this as fraud. Am I right?
